Our Story
Localish Janesville did not start as a business.
It started as a pattern.
Katie Myers was already creating content about local businesses, events, and what was happening around town.
At first, it was simple.
Highlight a business. Share a story. Tell people where to go.
And then something unexpected happened.
People showed up.
A video would go out and the next day a business would say:
“We were slammed.”
“We had people come in just because they saw your video.”
“We finally feel seen.”
That is when it clicked.
This was not just content.
This was connection.
The Problem
The more content Katie created, the more obvious the gap became.
- There were incredible businesses in Janesville.
- There were events happening every week.
- There were people doing meaningful things in the community.
But none of it lived in one place.
People were searching.
Scrolling.
Asking around.
Trying to figure out what to do, where to go, and who to support.
At the same time, business owners were doing everything they could to get attention.
Posting. Promoting. Hoping.
But most of them were still getting overlooked.
The Realization
After growing an audience of over 80,000 followers and generating hundreds of millions of views on local content, Katie saw the bigger picture.
Attention was not the problem.
Access was.
People wanted to support local.
They just needed a better way to find it.
That is where the idea for Localish was born.
Building Localish
Localish Janesville was created to bring everything together. One place to:
